8 Best Energy-Boosting Foods

Oct 27, 2022

When I see my niece running all day long and still being super energetic at the end of the day, I wish I could have the same energy level. Even though busy schedules, stress and sleep deprivation are the major causes of low energy and chronic fatigue, what you eat throughout the day can affect your energy levels as well. We often make bad food choices and wonder why it’s so hard for us to stay energetic and productive during the day. Eating the right foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner and making healthy snack choices can keep your energy levels high and provide many wonderful health benefits. Check out my list of the best energy-boosting foods that will help you fight fatigue, stay productive and healthy each day.

1 Greek yogurt

While plain regular yogurt is a good energy-boosting food, plain Greek yogurt is a healthier one. It contains more protein, healthy carbs and fats than regular yogurt, which means you will feel more energetic if you snack on Greek yogurt in the middle of the day. Eating Greek yogurt for breakfast helps to fight morning fatigue and bad mood. If you are not a big fan of Greek yogurt, you can use it in your favorite meals and snacks to reap all its benefits without realizing it. You can use it in your favorite fruit salad or fruit smoothies. Many people use Greek yogurt in their soups too.

2 Berries

Berries provide a huge boost of energy and they are good for your overall health. Berries are fortified with potent antioxidants that improve the function of your body and ward off many diseases. Add your favorite berries to Greek yogurt to feel the burst of energy and accomplish any project or task faster. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, goji berries, raspberries and cranberries are some of the best energy-boosting berries to snack on every time you feel tired.

3 Spinach

Whether eaten cooked or raw, spinach has many powerful health benefits. Eating it regularly helps to protect against osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, and certain cancers. Rich in vitamins A, C, K, magnesium, manganese and folate, spinach is one of the best energy-boosting foods that you can enjoy any time of the day. You can use spinach in pancakes, omelets, soups, smoothies and salads.

4 Walnuts

Nuts boast fantastic health benefits. They are packed with protein, heart-healthy fats, and vitamins and minerals. When it comes to energy-boosting properties, walnuts are beyond comparison. You don’t need to eat a lot of walnuts to keep your energy levels high, though – a handful of them will be enough to feel better, not to mention that you improve your memory. Try eating a few walnuts at the end of the day. Not only will you sleep better, you will wake up feeling more alert and energetic.

5 Melons

Dehydration often leads to exhaustion and fatigue, which is why it’s vital that you drink enough water and include water-rich foods in your eating plan. Melons, such as watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe, have incredibly high water content. Melons are low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, zinc, iron, selenium and many more. They are also a good source of healthy carbs that help to keep your energy levels high for hours. Next time you feel exhausted and tired, enjoy melon salad to boost your energy and health.

6 Quinoa

One of the best superfoods, quinoa is a healthy alternative to oats and cereals. You can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, without worrying about calories and fats. Quinoa has some amazing energy-boosting properties too. It’s rich in protein and fiber that help you have more energy to stay active and productive at work. Quinoa is very versatile, has a nice crunch and tastes amazing. You can use it in your soups and salads as well as make healthy quinoa sandwiches.

7 Cereal

Cereal isn’t the healthiest energy-boosting food, but when you need a quick energy boost, a bowl of cereal with milk or plain yogurt may help. Cereal is loaded with fiber, healthy carbs, and protein that will give you an energy boost you need to get you through the day. When buying cereal, look for whole-grain versions.

8 Oatmeal

Finally, if quinoa and cereal are not for you, give oatmeal a try. It’s broken down slowly by the body, giving you long-lasting energy. A bowl of oatmeal with berries, cinnamon and yogurt or milk is just what you need in the morning to jump start the day. Oatmeal is high in essential nutrients, including protein, magnesium, zinc, potassium, copper, and manganese.
