When times are hard, it can be difficult to find things to be thankful for. We often spend a lot of time complaining about the things we don’t have or thinking about the things we want to have in future, and forget about those things we have now. If you feel down, you should remind yourself that things will certainly get better soon and you actually are a happy person. One of the best ways to do that is to write down a list of all the things you are grateful for. Here are some of them:
1. Your family
Even if you have a difficult relationship with your parents, you should be thankful for your family. Whether you come from a small quiet family or a big noisy one, remember that these people truly love you, even if they don’t show it. They will always be ready to help you in any situation.
2. Your health
Another important thing to be thankful for is your health. We often forget about our health until we are sick. Whether you have a headache or something more serious, you can’t accomplish your tasks and you can’t focus on anything else except that pain. If you are a healthy person, be thankful for it each day, and make sure you lead a healthy lifestyle in order to be healthy, happy and successful. Health is wealth!
3. For all the small things
When I have a hard day, one of the best things I love to do is looking up at the sky and the sun. It reminds me how wonderful this life is and how it’s great to be alive. Have you ever stopped and smelled those beautiful roses? I know, it sounds silly, but give it a try next time you feel down and you will remember my words. There are many small things we should be thankful for, such as the warmth of the sun, the first spring flowers, the chirping of birds… this list of little things goes on and on. Just stop for a moment and look around you, you will certainly notice those tiny, but amazing things.
4. Your friends
No matter how many friends you have, be grateful for them, even if you have only one. From personal experience, I can say that one good friend is always better than a few so-called friends. Be thankful for your friends and try to remind them how much you care as often as possible. If you have furry friends, be grateful for them too.
5. The future
Yes, we don’t know our future, but being grateful for it and being thankful for what is to come is very important thing to do. Maybe you are going to enter the university or buy a car, be grateful for it now.
6. The present
It’s also important to be grateful for your present. Be thankful for your current job, even if you don’t like it, your house, even it’s very small, your car, even if it’s very old and other things you have now. All these things help to make your life a bit easier, so why not cherish them?
7. The past failures and mistakes
Before you think I am crazy for telling that, hear me out. I think every person should be grateful for their past failures and mistakes. Every failed relationship or missed job opportunity made you a better person. Sometimes mistakes are great since they help you become better and improve your life, of course, if you learn from them. Just don’t dwell too much on your past.
