10 Vegan Post-Workout Snacks

Recently, I gave you ten vegan pre-workout snacks to help power you through your workouts. But what should you eat when you have finished your exercise and your diet consists of plant-based items? Your body has utilized all the goodness you fed it prior to your workout. Now you will need to eat something afterward to help your muscles recuperate, and we know just what you should eat. Here are ten vegan post-workout snacks to gobble up so your body can recover.

1 Avocado salsa boat

Avocados are full of healthy fats that will help you fill up and recover fast. Grab a ripe avocado and cut it in half. After removing the pit, fill it up with the salsa of your choice. Then sprinkle some walnuts on top for more protein. Yum!

2 Easy banana ice cream

Treat yourself after your workout to a tasty vegan ice cream. It takes a little planning beforehand though because you will need 2 frozen bananas. You will take your frozen bananas and blend them with your choice of dairy-free milk and 1 scoop of your favorite vegan-friendly protein power. Add the dairy-free milk slowly because you can always add more to adjust the consistency if you feel it is too thick. For an extra hit of flavor, sprinkle it with a touch of cinnamon as you blend.

3 Spinach salad

Spinach is an excellent source of protein. Wash it well and create a salad using nuts, seeds, and dried fruits for added texture. Tie it all together with your favorite vinaigrette dressing. Mix it with cooked quinoa for added nutrients.

4 Pudding smoothies

When you soak chia seeds, they become gel-like and make for a fantastically tasty treat. Create a pudding smoothie. With tons of combinations, these will surely be your new favorite.

5 Fruit cup

Here is a super simple and sweet snack that will boost your sugar naturally. Fill up a cup with your choice of fresh cut up berries, melon, oranges, bananas, apples, or any other fruits you love. You can also add unsweetened coconut shreds for an extra superfood boost. Sprinkle with a little bit of raw pumpkin seeds. It will add a nice crunch and round out this post-workout snack with more protein.

6 Super energy-boosting smoothie

Instead of pumping yourself full of caffeine, try this natural and healthy energy-boosting smoothie that will really get you moving. You will need 1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder, 1 tablespoon of raw maca powder, 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, a 1/2-cup of coconut milk, 1 cup of the dairy-free milk of your choice, and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Blend on high in your blender until nice and smooth.

7 Protein bars

If you are rushing off somewhere after your workout, do not skip a post-workout snack. Take along a vegan-friendly protein bar that you can gobble up on the go. 8 Coconut water

Quite simply, this liquid that is extracted from coconuts when they are young and green is one of the most amazing superfoods out there. It is one of the most bountiful sources of electrolytes that occur naturally. Plus, it has amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants. If you do not feel like eating anything after your workout, down a cup of coconut water to refresh your body.

9 Pumpkin seeds

Raw pumpkin seeds make for a great fiber-filled snack. They will fill you up, plus they have plenty of protein to revitalize your energy levels. You can also roast them with a ton of different flavors from savory to sweet to satisfy any and all of your crunchy cravings.

Try roasting them with pure maple syrup for a sweeter treat. For a more savory snack, mix your pumpkin seeds with garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Or go spicy by coating them with sriracha.

10 Edamame

This naturally high-protein, iron and calcium-rich food is fantastic for post workout snacks. Simply sit and pop them out of their pods and into your mouth. Or if you’ll be on the go, take a moment before your workout to remove them from the pods first.

Whether you choose one of these vegan-friendly post-workout snacks or something else, it is so important to eat something after you exercise. You are not doing your body any favors by skipping out on food. In fact, you are fighting your own muscles if you do. So make sure you get something in your system. Grab it on the go or sit down and enjoy, but just do it.
