11. Pearl Harbor National Memorial
Pearl Harbor, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a must-visit for history lovers and those interested in World War II. The National Historic Landmark is an active military base and home to several attractions that are part of the World War II Valor in the Pacific Monument. One of the main attractions is the USS Arizona Memorial, which commemorates the tragic attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
The USS Arizona Memorial floats above the remains of the sunken ship, and visitors can see parts of the ship protruding from the water. This one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hawaii features a chance to pay respect to the 1,177 servicemen who lost their lives on the ship during the attack. Admission to the memorial is free, but due to its popularity, reservations are recommended.
In addition to the USS Arizona Memorial, visitors can explore other attractions at Pearl Harbor, including the Battleship Missouri Memorial, the Pacific Aviation Museum, and the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park. Each tourist attraction offers a unique glimpse into World War II history, from the battleship that served in World War II, Korea, and the Gulf War to the restored aircraft and exhibits detailing the Pearl Harbor attack.
