5. Via Dolorosa, Jerusalem
Known as the ‘way of sorrows,’ Via Dolorosa traces the route walked by Christ toward the cross where he was crucified. People come to this amazing street from around the world to pay homage to Christ in this city filled with religious monuments and sites. Millions of Christians around the world would like to visit this place.
Fourteen Stations have been canonized, each marked with a chapel or church. Nine Stations are indicated in the Gospels, while others are described in traditions corresponding to the Christian tradition. The essence and spiritual side of this tradition is to allow believers to imagine at least a small part of the suffering endured on this path by our Lord.
