10 Coffee Cocktails to Keep Your Alertness All Day
If you are anything like me then coffee has been the secret sauce that got you through 2016. So let’s not abandon our faithful staple this festive season, instead let’s dress it up for a party.
A coffee cocktail is something a little different from the usual drink offerings. Sophisticated and packing a punch, a well-made coffee cocktail will give you the pick-me-up you need to flutter around the Christmas party like a social butterfly. Here are ten of my favorites, from classics to contemporary recipes.
1 Caffe Shakerato
A short and sweet drink served in a small tumbler with a frothy top. Take 2 parts cold-brew coffee with 1 part syrup of your choice. Shake with ice and strain into tumbler. I recommend trying this with chocolate syrup for a mocha flavor. Or how about chocolate orange for a festive twist?
2 Dublin Iced Coffee
Now this is a festive treat that can double up as a dessert. Mix 2 oz of cold brew coffee with 2 oz of Guinness (or another stout), 1.5 oz of Irish whiskey, 0.75 oz of coffee syrup. Pour over ice into a tall tumbler.
Slowly pour in double cream so it sinks through the ice. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon, and try not to feel too guilty about how decadent it is. This one is best served with a wide straw.
3 Espresso Martini
This one is a classic and super easy to make. All you need to make espresso martini is 2 parts of vodka, 1 part of Kahlua, 1 part of cold espresso, and half part syrup. It is very strong so I advise moderation here.
4 The Truffle
One oz of Frangelico, 1 oz of vodka, and 0.75 oz of cold espresso. Shake with ice and strain into the fanciest glass you can find. This looks lovely in a martini glass or champagne saucer.
5 Chocolate Mocha Latte
This drink is part naughty and part nice, as the milk will help to keep you hydrated. Add 4 oz of milk, 2 oz of cold espresso, 3 tablespoons of chocolate syrup and 2 oz of Kahlua straight to a tumbler grass. Stir and add ice.

6 Hot Shot Espresso
Greet your guests coming in from the cold with this warm wakeup call. Grab your cocktail shaker and add 1 oz of coffee liqueur, 1 oz of Baileys Irish Cream, a double shot of espresso and steamed milk. Shake with just a little ice. Serve in a coffee cup and garnish with a mint sprig.7 Espresso Noir
This is seriously rich and very festive indeed. Pour 1.25 oz of Grey Goose Cheery Noir, 0.75 oz Disaronno, 1 oz cold espresso and a dash of syrup into your cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and pour into a wine glass or champagne flute. Top with whipped cream and espresso beans.
8 Bavarian Coffee
This is like a minty hot chocolate, but with a really big kick. Add 0.5 oz of peppermint schnapps, 0.5 oz of Kahlua, 5 oz of hot black coffee, and a teaspoon of sugar to a coffee cup. Stir, then float whipped cream on top and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
9 Tennessee Mud
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more decadent, here comes the Tennessee Mud. Pour 5 oz of brewed black coffee into a large cup. Mix in 0.5 oz of Jack Daniels and 0.5 oz of Amaretto. Top with whipped cream.
10 Alcohol Free Irish Coffee
And of course, the best hosts offer a ‘mocktail’ option too. Prepare coffee as desired, with or without milk. Add a tablespoon of Irish Cream flavored syrup, and top with whipped cream.Read also – 9 Hot Cocoa Mixes to Mix Up for a Quick and Cute Gift
