The popular alpha females… Every group has to have one and they are typically easy to spot. And if you are the alpha female, you know that it comes with both benefits and detriments. Do you think we are all strength and bossiness? Not so fast, ladies. There is more to us than meets the eye. Here are five pros and cons of being the alpha female.
1 We are natural leaders and mediators
It is not that we want to be the center of attention (ok, maybe we do) we are just naturally geared to take charge. We are the ones to introduce acquaintances, make connections, and tell a joke to alleviate tension or awkwardness. We are pros at smoothing over business disagreements and taking charge of a room. You may not like it, but imagine if we were not there to be your social buffer.

2 We say what we mean and mean what we say
If an alpha female does not like something, she will tell you. If she does like something, she will tell you. Bottom line: alpha females speak their minds. You will never have to wonder where you stand with us because we, alpha females, tend to say it like it is, good, bad, or in-between.
Sure, this can make for some tense moments, but wouldn’t you rather just know what someone is thinking instead of having to read in between the lines? We know we would!
3 We are not waiting for a knight in shining armor
Much to the detriment of our love life, we are not sitting around waiting for a man to come and save us. We are buying homes by our own means, changing our own light bulbs and fixing our own flats.
It is not that we do not appreciate your help, we just do not have time to sit around and wait for your white horse to show up! Don’t worry, you can still open our doors and bring us flowers, we just are not your damsels in distress.
4 We are in every group and there is only one of us
Next time you are at a social event, pay attention to the groups that form. Do you notice that all of the ladies are angled to one woman? It’s proven that the alpha female in a group commands attention and all the other women will respond by turning their feet and bodies towards her.
They will even mimic the alpha woman’s body language and tone of voice without realizing what they are doing. But there can only be one alpha in a group. If two are on the scene, you are sure to have drama and disagreements until one of the two finds a new group to lead.
5 We are busy women
We are typically good at anything we put our mind to so we participate in a wide array of activities. Whether it is our career, hobbies, or athletic activities, we are usually always on the go, so if you want to spend time with us you better keep up.
