The Real Reason You Should Write a Lifelong To-Do List Today
I do not know about you, but if I do not make a list of things I need to do, it will get lost in the brain clutter I tend to have at times. Short to-do lists help me break down large tasks into smaller tasks in order to complete each item.
Well, what about lifelong things to do? Do you make a list for those things? Why not? I think you should make a lifelong to-do list, and here are the reasons why.
1 Life does not end until you take your last breath
“You are not dead yet,” is something I find myself telling other people who mention they wished they had done things earlier in their life. My philosophy is that there is still time to do the things you wish you would have done.
It might take time or money that you just do not have at the moment, but put whatever it is you pine for on your lifelong to-do list, then work towards crossing that off as you complete it.
If you need to save up some money to take college courses, do it. Apply for financial aid or scholarships, or take up a second job. Put aside the money, and in time, you will have what you need to start pursuing that dream you once thought was gone. You are not dead yet, so keep living.

2 Personal growth is a lifelong task
I suggest adding the task of improving yourself to your list. Then, under that, list all the sub-tasks you need to accomplish to improve yourself. Remember, you have a lifetime to get this done, so take one step at a time.
In your sub-task list, write down everything you want to do to improve yourself, and then write down the steps you need to take to get there. Cross things off the list as you complete them, so you can see just how close you are to accomplishing that goal. Celebrate your successes and learn from your failures.
Growth does not happen without some pain, so be prepared for some disappointments along the way. Change your mindset to one that allows you room to grow and you will make improvements before you know it.
3 Some things take time to accomplish
What is it you want to accomplish before you die? Is it doing something you never thought you could do before? Is it something like skydiving, climbing peaks over 14,000 feet, having children naturally or through adoption, continuing your education, or making a career change?
All these things take time to accomplish. Each one has steps to take before you jump right in, but don’t let time hold you back. Put it on your list, and then make a commitment to pursue that passion, now.

Why should you make a lifelong to-do list? Because life is not over yet. Because improving yourself over your lifetime is worth working towards, and because some of those things you want most take a lifetime to accomplish. Do not give up. Check off what you have achieved and keep living a life of growth an improvement every day.
