How to Stop Juggling and Start Balancing Your Life
Sometimes despite being a full-fledged grown-up, I feel like anything but. All my obligations from working to family, paying bills, and trying to sneak in some sort of fun for the kids’ sake wears on me, leaving me feeling fatigued and like I have spread myself too thin.
When I start feeling like I have nothing to pour into my kids’ cups, I look for ways to rebalance my life and find some sort of harmony and peace amidst the chaos. Because let’s face it… those things will always be there stressing us out so we have got to find a way to end the juggling cycle and balance things out. Here are some of the things I do to get back on track.
1 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Our bodies are mostly comprised of water. You might not realize it, but when you are dehydrated, it contributes to depression. It also flushes toxins from our bodies which leaves us feeling cleaner and more refreshed. Add a slice of lemon and the citrus will really give you a boost of happiness.
2 Eat better
When you load up on sugary treats and eat more convenience foods, you might think you are feeling better by soothing your stress with these fatty foods. But later, you will feel tired and that depression will be lurking around again like a debt collector.
I am not saying never have that chocolate or slice of cake. However, if you want to start feeling more balance in your life, start it from within by giving your body whole foods and real nutrients. You will feel so much better when you do.

3 Keep moving
It is tempting to sit on the couch for more Netflix and chill time, but get off your duff and get in some exercise. Doing something you enjoy is the key to making it work. It could be yoga, weightlifting, swimming, or running as long as it has you moving more. Even a simple walk every day will completely help rebalance your mind, body, and soul.
4 Make time for fun
I feel like I am always on deadline and sometimes, I have got to stop myself from declining something fun. Yes, I need to work to support myself but I also remember the old saying, “All work and no play makes John a dull boy.”
So I take some time out each week to do something I like. When it comes time to sit back down to work, I feel creatively inspired after taking a break.
5 Aim for your goals
Sometimes what makes us feel unbalanced is that we do not seem to have any goals we are striving for. Ask yourself why you are doing this or what you hope to accomplish.
Perhaps it is earning that big promotion at your job, buying a new house, or going on a dream vacation, but no matter what it is, make it a priority to work toward your goal every day.
6 Meditate
You might feel silly doing it at first, but meditation is one of the best things you can do to realign your mind. There is no one right way to do it either. Do what feels comfortable for you and in that you will find your enlightenment.

7 Stop comparing
Nothing makes a person more miserable than not being grateful for your own blessings and looking enviously at others. Stop looking at your Facebook feed and getting jealous because she has a bigger house or better job or you think her husband loves her more than yours loves you. Nothing is what it seems on the outside and very likely, someone is envying you for your blessings too.
